Ruben Studdard To Compete On “Biggest Loser”

Ruben Studdard is looking to add The Biggest Loser to his list of championships that include American Idol.
The singer will compete on the weight loss reality TV show to accomplish a task he was only able to do before by following a vegetarian diet.
“Every week we would start by writing out a meal plan and calories,” Studdard said about losing 70 pounds in 2006 by giving up meat. “The people at the vegetarian store in Birmingham are like, ‘What’s he doing in here?'”
Studdard reportedly gained weight after his divorce in 2012.
He’s not aiming to be a loser to snag a new wife or to feel better when he looks in the mirror, but rather to feel great when he sees his results from his annual checkup.
“I’ve never had an issue with my weight,” the 35-year-old explained, “[But] my family has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart-related issues – things I didn’t have to deal with yet because I’m young. But I don’t want to be worried at 40, and if I don’t fix things now, I will be.”
You can catch Studdard on The Biggest Loser on Tuesday on NBC this fall.
