Vegetarian Star

Jenny McCarthy is starring in a new ad for Carl Jr.’s that promotes its chicken salad.

Most people know celebrities change diets as often as they get cosmetic procedures, but it still needs to be stated that McCarthy has been known as a vegetarian since 2009.

The commercial is titled, “Forget You’re Eating Salad.”

Did McCarthy just “forget” she was eating chicken?

Actually, no.

As it turns out, she follows a more flexitarian approach that allows her to take a few fork fulls of salad during the clips. Especially since she’s being paid so much money to do so.

Kayla Lostica from 72andSunny, the ad agency that created the skit, told Business Insider in an email that, “Jenny does practice a mostly-vegan diet, but isn’t too strict about it. I guess the grilled chicken was too good for her to resist!”

In a behind the scenes interview above, McCarthy said, “What seals the deal for me is having the different textures in my salad.  The crunch of the nut, and the sugary of the fruit, and the little juices of the apple that spices it up.”

At least McCarthy is praising the plant parts of the salad. Heck, if you take out the chicken, it’s “mostly vegan” like her.
