Ina Garten Baked Sweet Potato Fries–“Barefoot Contessa: Back To Basics”
Written by Vegetarian Star on June 7th, 2013 in Chefs, Food & Drink, Recipes.
Ina Garten has not always been recognized as the kitchen diva of healthy cooking.
Her cookbook, Barefoot Contessa: How Easy is That? was chosen as one of the worst for health by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a group that advocates a plant-based diet for health.
But Garten does have her healthy moments, like she had when she created her baked sweet potato fries.
Most people, especially parents of children, appreciate a french fry dish or chip that is baked and not fried, as long as the dish is still packed with flavor.
Garten’s fries use less oil and reduce the fat content of fries by placing them in the oven versus the skillet. In addition, she gives french fries an added boost of Vitamin A by using sweet versus russet potatoes.
This recipe is taken from Garten’s book, Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics.
