Shannon Elizabeth became famous for her sexy role in the 90s teenage comedy American Pie.
But these days she’d rather be recognized for using her onscreen presence to help promote environmental causes.
In her latest film, A Green Story, she plays Kelly, the real life daughter of Van Vlahakis, who left Greece with 22 dollars and went on to create the Earth Friendly cleaning products company.
“I haven’t done a role like the American Pie stuff in a while, this is more going along the direction of who I really am, this is much more comfortable for me,” Elizabeth said.
The outspoken activist has also lent her name and face to campaigns for vegetarianism and animal rights, including one where she served as an adopt a turkey ambassador for Farm Sanctuary.
“I am always trying to be green and environmental, I’m vegan and it’s how I live my life and I’ve been wanting to do a project that is meaningful. When I read the script I knew it was what I wanted to do.”
