“Zagat” Rates Top Vegan Restaurants Serving Diner Style Food

Zagat, one of the most known and respected outlets for restaurant ratings, has blogged about vegan restaurants in the U.S. that serve animal-free versions of classic items like grilled cheese, burgers, and chicken fingers.
From Zagat:
“The word “vegan” tends to bring to mind health food, clean living, yoga, and just about anything wholesome. But, as any vegan knows, there is plenty of deliciously deviant vegan junk food that you can find in diners, fast food joints and bars. Have a hankering for a fake-chicken wing dripping in spicy, butter-free buffalo sauce? We’ve got you covered.”
Eight different casual restaurants are featured, including Chicago’s famous Chicago Diner serving vegan versions of bacon cheeseburgers and eggs benedict.
There’s also San Francisco’s Bender’s and its “Satan’s Lil’ Helpers”–seitan wings drenched in traditional BBQ sauce.
If being in Brooklyn tends to put you out of the mood, let Foodswings pick you up with its veggie dog available with numerous toppings and condiments.
Everything’s bigger in Texas, and at Arlo’s the vegan items are also local, organic and sourced from non-GMO ingredients.
Find the corner of the country where Zagat can recommend a vegan establishment serving diner food for you.
