Chicago Mayor Emauel Rahm Supports Vegan “Engine 2 Diet” (Video)

Plant-based proponent and Chicago mayor Emauel Rahm is promoting a vegetarian diet for the city’s firefighters and residents.
Chicago’s South Side Engine 18 station recently held a meatless celebration featuring Rip Esselstyn, author of The Engine 2 Diet who helped firemen at his station in Texas adopt a plant-based diet on the job.
Rahm encourages such a change and thinks it could cut health care costs in the future.
“The third biggest item on the city budget is healthcare costs,” Emanuel. “Just because we are doing a better job managing doesn’t mean an individual shouldn’t do a better job managing it as well.”
“I am a firm believer in personal responsibility,” said Emanuel. “I want the incentives in there so you do the right thing. I am not telling you what to do, but there are choices that you make that have consequences to your health and your health care costs.”
Rahm eats mostly vegetarian, but does confess to an occasional steak indulgence, proving even one of the fittest politicians can get a little kaled out .
