Hip-hop entrepreneur and animal rights activist Russell Simmons will be honored at a Mercy For Animals event on the evening of November 3, 2012.
“Inspired: A Night with Russell Simmons” will feature vegan cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and desserts at the Press Lounge on top of Ink48 Hotel in New York City.
The event will both honor Simmons and celebrate Mercy for Animals’ work on behalf of animal welfare.
Simmons, who has recently expanded his business brand to include a yoga clothing line, believes in keeping principles while making profit and often uses his diet as an example.
“It’s important to me that these creative people are recognized, that this creative path is taken, because business as usual will not suffice,” Simmons said.
“If you’re a vegan, don’t sell steak … and if you are and you own a steak company, find an alternative form of protein.”
