Mary Louise Parker Says A “Soul Food Junkie” Can Exist Anywhere

Mary Louise Parker is hosting a PBS series that includes the film Soul Food Junkies, a documentary about the problem of finding healthy food in some black communities.
Parker, a vegan, acknowledges that while it may be difficult for some living in poverty to provide the best food for their children, parents in wealthy neighborhoods make poor choices too.
“I send my children to a very good, very expensive private school,” she said. “And someone gave them M&Ms. No one should be giving my son Skittles as a reward for doing a math problem.”
Apparently not even the babysitter has done such a good job of providing nutritional sound food for her little ones.
The Weeds actress came home one day to learn the sitter had fed her eight and six year old corn dogs.
“I took her to Whole Foods and explained what’s appropriate,” Parker said.
Hopefully, the sitter is heating up veggie corn dogs now.
