Roberto Martin Now Chases Wife With Vegan Burritos

Roberto Martin, author of Vegan Cooking for Carnivores, has an interview with the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel on vegan cooking and his new cookbook.
The chef to Ellen DeGeneres may be promoting a plant-based diet now, but it was a different story years ago when he married his vegetarian wife.
“I chased her around the house with a carne asada burrito.”
Nowadays, he and his wife are both vegans and he’s replaced the carne with frijoles and tofu.
It’s no wonder the former carnivore has great advice on helping vegans and meat-eaters reach a mutual agreement at the dinner table.
“Number one, to bridge that gap. I don’t know what it is with meat eaters, their life experiences and fun times with food they don’t want infringed upon by some hippie vegan calling them a murderer. They’ve missed the mark. . . . I’m trying to make vegan food for the guy that ate Carl’s Jr. yesterday. It looks and tastes extremely similar. The flavor combinations are what I’m pushing. If it works in the meat world, it works in the non-meat world.”
