Jessica Chastain Had Faux Chicken Experience On “The Help”

Jessica Chastain has been eating vegetarian for almost two decades, so when it was time to film a scene on The Help where her character ate fried chicken, the producers had to make a few modifications.
Not a big problem at all, considering all the realistic faux meats that are available.
From the report at Foodista, it appears Chastain pulled off the scene by eating both vegan chicken and pretending to eat real meat.
“The scene where I was eating fried chicken, they made me vegan fried chicken. It probably [didn’t taste as good] as fried chicken. They did an amazing job. They took a turkey dog and tofurkey and battered it, and deep fried it,” Chastain said. “I haven’t had meat in so long. I’ve been vegan for five years and vegetarian for 15 years, so if I had had meat, I wouldn’t have been able to do the scene. They all thought I was just chowing down.”
If you’re filming a homemade or B-grade movie that requires the vegan star to eat chicken, check out a line of faux meat products like Gardein, which offers realistic looking and tasting items like Buffalo Wings, Scallopini, nuggets, fillets and Teriyaki strips.
