Kelly Cutrone Calls Fur Fashion Faux Pas In “Normal Gets You Nowhere”

Who cares what fur-loving Anna Wintour thinks about style? Fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone is the only one the fashionistas should be listening to.
The star of Bravo’s Kell on Earth and founder of the fashion PR company, People’s Revoltuion, has published a new book, Normal Gets You Nowhere, which slams the industry that brutally traps, raises and kills animals for the skin so others can make a fashion statement.
“I happen to think that, despite what industry insiders might tell you, it’s absolutely gross that fashion people are still celebrating fur,” Cutrone wrote. “What is so sexy about the annihilation of animals for clothing?”
“I hate to break it to you, but if you think fur’s glamorous, it doesn’t mean you have fabulous taste; it means you’ve been programmed to be totally numb to suffering.”
As the title of the book indicates, Normal Gets You Nowhere is about challenging conventional ways of living to fulfill one’s potential instead of trying to “fit in.” Cutrone points out that history is full of people who challenged the “norm” to bring change to the world and achieve satisfaction.
In today’s society, it’s often “normal” to use animals for food, clothing and entertainment. If more people took advice from Ms. Cutrone, the world would experience a definite change for the better.
