Aimee Teegarden Removes Dairy For A Vegan “Prom”

About a year ago, Friday Night Lights star Aimee Teegarden was making the transition to vegan.
Now that she’s trading her role as Julie Taylor on Friday Night Lights for a type A, perfectionist head of the prom committee gal on the new Disney series Prom, Teegarden is about to graduate to another level.
She’s removed all dairy from her diet, according to MNN.
“I feel a lot better, I feel cleaner, and ethically it makes me feel a lot happier going to sleep at night,” Teegarden said.
Which is great because those sleepless nights need to be devoted to dance tracks and King and Queen crowns, not thinking about whether the milk she had for breakfast was obtained from a poor cow cramped in the same position for hours at a large dairy farm.
How does Teegarden get her calcium now that she’s dumped dairy?
Calcium needs depend on sex, age and whether or not you’re breastfeeding, but as a general rule, we all need around 1,000-1,300 mg a day.
Most vegetarians know green, leafy plants like kale and legumes like beans and tofu are full of bone-building calcium, but some people may have a harder time trying to fit the right portions of these foods into their diets every day for optimum nutrition.
Conveniently, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has created a couple of sample menus, that show how to get 1,000 mg of calcium from breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks from vegetables, legumes, whole grains and fruits.
