“Masterchef” Puts Vegetarian Chef Ahead Of Competition

Reality TV has a way of giving the vegetarian the shaft. And not the juicy, nutritious celery kind either.
Often, the contestant has to choose between continuing to compete or eating meat, cooking meat or gets lambasted by judges, competitors and blogs for cooking meatless dishes.
This season, BBC’s Masterchef tells a different story. One of the four finalists in the competition is known for her vegetarian dishes and Mastechef’s co-presenter Greg Wallace is impressed.
“Temperament aside, Jackie has cooked some of the best vegetarian food that I’ve ever eaten,” Wallace told Digital Spy.
“It’s amazing that a vegetarian has got so far when you consider what’s taken out of her repertoire. It’s nothing short of amazing. She does get very emotional. You could call it emotion, you could call it a flap or you can call it passion. I don’t mind how people’s passions come out as long as they have it. Nobody can accuse Jackie of not having passion.”
UK vegetarians have had the joy of watching Kearney put passion into dishes on television, but vegs all over the country can experience the flavors of her creations from a list of recipes posted on BBC’s website.
For a cool, afternoon refreshing dish, start with the Sushi platter containing three types of vegan sushi: a tofu-wrapped sushi, shiitake mushroom and vegetable sushi and ginger and tofu and wasabi sushi.
For a meatier dinner-like dish, Kearney infuses tempeh with coconut milk to make Smokey tempeh satay sticks and serves them on sesame green beans and compressed rice sticks with spicy peanut sauce and chilli cashews.
More vegetarian and vegan recipes by Kearney can be found at BBC.

I absolutely love Tempeh, but vegan sushi must be one of the most boring dishes, it’s not much more than rice and a few sticks of carrots !
i really found it unacceptable, even horrible, that she complained when someone dared to cook meat in the vicinity of her holy vegan food, that’s not being vegan anymore, that’s closer to religious extremism, atrocious !
