Quantcast Vegetarian StarAnimal Planet To Air “Sweet Avenger” About Vegan Baker Danielle Konya

The Discovery Channel is taking its green programming theme one step further by adding a series about the adventures of a vegan baker who’s satisfied sweet teeth of the stars.

Animal Planet will air Sweet Avenger, a 12 episode series about Danielle Konya, the owner of Vegan Treats, a vegan bakery in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will revolve around Konya, her business and her life as a single mother to an adopted child.

“I want to show people that by eating a vegan confection, you’re directly saving the lives of cows, chickens and thereby the environment and habitats of thousands of other exotic species,” Konya said. “There’s nothing appetizing about the suffering of 10 billion animals a year, and my treats can satisfy both the palate and the conscience.”

Konya has received requests for vegan desserts from many celebrities, especially musicians, people she thinks are naturally drawn to the idea of veganism.

“I think maybe because veganism is like a magnet for an alternative lifestyle,” Konya said. “I think lots of musicians are eclectic individuals. That’s my take on it. Or maybe, one musician has it and the others go, “We want some!”

Alkaline Trio’s drummer Derek Grant liked Vegan Treats so much, he wrote a song about it.
