“Parenthood” Teaches Lesson In Kids Going Vegetarian (Video)

In case you missed the last episode of NBC’s Parenthood, here’s one of the more important lessons from the episode: If a child is going vegetarian, there’s nothing you can do to stop it. That and make sure you know how to make “Seitan Crappola.”
Six-year old Sydney Graham informs her mother she won’t be eating her former favorite meal of chicken because she’s now gone veg. Mom Julia is supportive, but when grandparents Camille and Zeek come over with Sydney’s former favorite lasagna with meat, there is a show-down.
Grandpa uses every argument and trick in the book to convince Sydney she should eat her meat lasagna, including the fact that Camille slaved over the hot stove for hours and it wouldn’t be nice to hurt her feelings.
Camille gives in, however, and learns to make seitan. In all fairness to Camille, she tried.
Unfortunately, Sydney doesn’t like the seitan recipe Camille found and sits at the table with her arms crossed refusing to eat her either meal.
Grandpa Zeek tells Sydney she must eat one or the other before leaving the table.
Later he tells his daughter she must show Sydney who’s the boss and that Camille went out of her way to try to please her, even making that “Seitan Crappola.”
Mom Julia has a lesson for grandpa though, meaning she’s probably already read the good tips and resources for parents of a vegan or vegetarian.
