Actress known for her sustainable lifestyle, Livia Firth, was seen at the Golden Globes wearing a dress made with peace silk.
Firth discussed her experience on UK Vogue’s website.
“When Colin won I thought we were in a dream. I’ll bring you a round-up of the parties later too. I’m Cinderella in hand dyed indigo peace silk from Tennessee and I’m definitely at the ball!”
Peace silk is known as such because it doesn’t involve the intentional killing of the silkworm.
Sometimes also called vegetarian silk, peace silk is manufactured by extracting the silk after the silkworm has emerged from the cocoon, a stage in which it remains for about 10-12 days. Conventional silk processing takes the silk while it’s still inside the cocoon, and consequently results in the silkworm’s death.
According to Ahimsa Silks, about 15 silkworms are killed to get 1 gram of silk and 1500 silkworms are needed to get one meter of woven silk.
Colin Firth won Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture in the drama category for his role as stuttering King George VI in “The King’s Speech.”

i loved sat night live until u became a political pundit for
the left. You have lost the real purpose of humor. Not
to sway people to one side but to let us laugh. Its just
not the same as when you were out to get laughs and
not make political statements
