Roseanne Barr Prefers Nuts To Meat

Most people would agree that Roseanne Barr is pretty nutty.
She’s offering more proof of this by running her own nut farm. While promoting her latest book, Roseannarchy: Dispatches From the Nut Farm, Barr said nuts beat meat for both environmental and health reasons.
“They’re the perfect protein,” she said. “They don’t have any carbohydrates and the only fat they’ve got, which is a lot, but it’s the good kind. So it’s better than beef. No greenhouse gases. Nice nuts.”
Barr’s favorite nut is the macademia one.
“Mac nuts are the best — pearly and buttery, with just the right texture and so easy to crunch. Everybody loves them.”
We have to admit, this nutty lady is right.
Nuts contain good fats–both the polyunsaturated and monounsaturated kind that lower bad cholesterol levels. Although the protein content varies by the nut, on average, it’s about 7 grams per serving.
And some nuts carry a special benefit to vegetarians. One ounce of walnuts (about 14 shelled walnut halves) contain enough omega-3 fatty acids to meet the 2002 dietary recommendation of the Food Nutrition Board of the National Academies’ Institute of Medicine. So there’s no reason to turn to fish if you’re worried about fulfilling this requirement.
Nice nuts. Nice nuts, indeed.

I totally agree! I eat at least 4 kinds of nuts a day. Walnuts in cookies and brownies. Pecans in oatmeal or with banana slices. Peanuts with raisins or pistachios for snacks. My favorite pasta dishes are Linguine with Walnut Sauce, Mac & Cheese made with cashew sauce, and Fettucine Alfredo with pine nut/cashew sauce. And then there’s almond milk and Almond Dream Ice Cream. I can’t get enough nuts.

Didn’t she say she hated vegans before?
