Cover Girl is cleaning up its act.
It claims to no longer test its products on animals and now, it has unveiled a sister line of products touted as natural and green to be promoted in ads by Taylor Swift, reports Stylelist.
Cover Girl Natureluxe introduced its Silk Foundation and Gloss Balm first, both of which contain plant-based ingredients like jojoba oil, rosehip extracts, cucumber water, mango and shea butter. Natureluxe contains no parabens. It’s also using bioresin–a renewable, sustainable, sugarcane-derived plastic–for its packaging.
But we know a few ingredients that come from the ground or trees doesn’t make it completely eco-friendly. So how does Natureluxe stack up in terms of other items added to the formulas?
The ingredients from the Brazil Nut Silk Foundation read as follows:
“Active Ingredients/Ingrédients Actif/ Ingredientes Activos: Titanium Dioxide 2.6% 2.6% Dióxido De Titanio, Octinoxate 2 % 2% Octinoxato. Yes, there’s a little more than nut oils and fruit in this foundation, including propylene glycol, a known skin irritant.
But this is a step in the right direction and hopefully Cover Girl will see its consumers happy with the direction, giving it the green light to take ethics another mile forward.
