Quantcast Vegetarian StarKatie Cassidy Vegan Lapse In “The Monte Carlo” Left Her Constipated

Katie Cassidy found out the hard way that the words “Let Them Eat Cake” should have been proceeded by “Give them some laxatives.”

“The Monte Carlo” star was filming in Hungary for the movie and had nothing but bad luck when it came to food. First, she discovered there isn’t much to eat there that doesn’t have animal products in it. Then, when it was time to shoot a scene involving eating, the director suggested she eat baked goods. The only problem was, like many movie scenes, it took several shots to get it right. And each time, Cassidy ate more cake. Constipating cake.

“I’m telling you, when you go from being vegan to eating cake like that, your bowels are frozen for probably three weeks!” Cassidy told George Lopez.

“I’m a healthy eater and before I went to Budapest I was experimenting being vegan and had been vegan for like six months, and Budapest is like, literally goulash and pulled pork. And day one on the set, the directer came up to me and was like, ‘How do you feel about cake? Can you eat cake in this scene?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, actually it would be really funny if my character was scarfing down cake in this scene.’

“So little did I realise that this actual scene took 15 hours to shoot, so I was eating cake for 15 hours straight and I ate two full cakes to myself.”

Yikes! Some Amy’s frozen vegan cakes would have definitely made things much smoother. At least the filming, that is. We won’t comment about the bathroom moments.
