Bob Barker‘s message to spay and neuter pets will surely live on forever…or until at least 2060.
The former Price Is Right host took part in a ceremony that buried items related to the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Barker included a letter in the capsule that reminds people to help reduce the unwanted cat and dog population.
“It’s signed Bob Barker, October 28th, 2010, and the note says, ‘Have your pets spayed or neutered,” said the vegetarian and animal rights activist.
The celebration marked the Walk of Fame’s 50th anniversary. The time capsule will be buried on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, where the Walk of Fame originated. It will be opened in 2060 to celebrate the 100th anniversary.
According to the Beverly Hills Courier, the time capsule included items from four categories: motion pictures, television, recording, radio and live theater. Other items that future entertainment enthusiasts will examine include an autographed picture of Joanne Woodward, who received the first Walk of Fame star, DVDs of the Oscar telecasts from 1960 and 2010 and a replica Capitol records tower.
Barker’s message is timeless, but hopefully, through education and outreach, it won’t be needed in 2060 and the 3-4 million cats and dogs who are euthanized in shelters each year will be a relic of the past.
