Quantcast Vegetarian StarStella McCartney Launching “Stella McCartney Kids” With Organic Cotton

Stella McCartney is launching her own label of children’s clothing that will be available in November. Stella has previously partnered with GapKids and BabyGap to create fashions for youth.

According to UK Vogue, the range will feature prints for children up to 12 years old with “organic cotton onesies, floral printed dresses, quilted field jackets and rubber rain boots.”

“As a brand with many working parents in the team, I wanted to create a desirable, fun, wearable kids collection that was affordable,” Stella said. “I feel like all the timeless children’s wear is reserved for the expensive brands and that did not sit well with me, kids and parents, aunts, uncles, friends, should all be able to have access to Stella McCartney Kids clothes. We have tried to make that possible in this first collection, and hope it is enjoyed!”

It’s no surprise that the vegetarian fashion designer’s outfits will contain no fur or leather, but Stella is taking ethics a notch further by using organic cotton.

When choosing your fashions, organic cotton should be aimed for, as conventional cotton crops are some of the most chemically dependent in the world and pose a danger to those working in the fields in developing countries.

Fortunately, the trend of eco-friendly cotton is catching on, as the Organic Trade Association’s 2010 Organic Industry Survey found in 2009, organic fiber sales in the United States grew by 10.4 percent over the previous year, reaching $521 million. The Organic Trade Association thinks the future for organic fibers is promising, as more mainstream outlets are adding the materials to their designs.

The collection can currently be previewed at StellaMcCartneyKids.
