Vegetarian model Christie Brinkley has been honored with the 2nd Annual HBA Positively Beautiful Award from HBA Global Expo for her support of Smile Train. Smile Train restores smiles on children’s faces around the world by repairing cleft lips and cleft palates, oral deformity conditions that occur early in development in the uterus.
Clefts are common in developing countries and often interfere with speaking and eating abilities, thus causing stress in both public and private lives of the children affected. Treatments for clefts from surgery to speech experts help give these individuals a beautiful smile on the outside and confidence inside.
You may be fortunate enough to escape this development issue and have a beautiful smile on the outside, but have you considered what you’re putting on your teeth to keep them looking great? Many conventional toothpastes contain glycerin, a fat containing product derived from soap making that usually involves animals. Instead of a clean, healthy smile, you may be giving yourself a mouthful of lard.
Thankfully, several brands of vegetarian and vegan toothpastes exist, and those brands make a variety of flavors. Have too many soy lattes stained your smile? Kiss My Face has a whitening toothpaste, in addition to other varieties on the shelves. Tom’s of Maine is another company that manufactures toothpaste without animal products or byproducts. Neither companies perform testing on animals.
