Moby Admires Humane Society Work At The Leglislative Level

Moby‘s interview with BlogCritics mentions his work with the Humane Society of the United States. The musician cites the organization as his favorite because of their work to protect animals at the legislative level.
“What I like about the Humane Society is how big and effective they are, especially on a legislative level. I mean, there are a lot of great animal rights organizations who save dogs and save cats, but the Humane Society is actually really good at working with Congress and getting legislation actually passed.”
The HSUS continues to champion better animal welfare by urging for tougher laws against issues such as dog fighting, seal hunts, puppy mills and fur. It also provides a convenient page to track news stories related to animal welfare legislation.
The HSUS’ work not only takes on the form of pushing for new or stricter standards, but working with authorities to enforce laws already on the books. Just this month, HSUS announced it has provided key information to the Indiana Gaming Commission about Wally’s Gamefowl Farm, an operation that allegedly provided birds for overseas cockfights. Two hundred birds were seized by authorities and charges are pending.
