Last Chance’s Shelly Bookwalter can sometimes be seen on the show wearing furs and Peta needed to know: Are those real?
Thankfully, a representative from Animal Planet assured the animal rights group Sheila’s furs are fake. That’s a sign of relief for animals everywhere, even the cats and dogs Sheila rescues. The Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society International estimate 2 million dogs and cats are killed for fur each year. Most of the producers operate in China or Southeast Asia. Many of the products are used in clothing, stuffed animals and animal toys and sold to Europe, America and other parts of the country
