Sugar Cupcakery, a cupcake bakery offering vegan and gluten-free varieties that competed on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars television series, is teaming up with a program that funds research and education on Parkinson’s Disease.
From now until September 12th, two organic cupcakes from the bakery will compete with each other in sales and 25% of sales from the winning cupcake will go towards The Sunflower Foundation, a collaboration between UC Health/ University Hospital Foundation, UC Neuroscience Institute and the Davis Phinney Foundation that has raised over 1.4 million dollars for Parkinson’s Disease.
The two cupcakes, chocolate hazelnut and lemon ginger, will also be available in vegan and gluten-free varieties.
The winner will be announced on September 12th, at the conclusion of the event in Milford, Ohio, which includes a bike ride, streetfest and run/walk taking place that week.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the Sunflower Revolution,” said Krista Tevar, owner of Sugar Cupcakery. “This is a fun way to give back to our community.
Tevar competed on the Food Network reality cooking competition and later discussed some of the difficulties of baking vegan with the media.
