Tippi Hedren has been honored for her work with big cats by the number one online women’s networking site, BraveHeartWomen.com. The actress is one of the recipients of the 2010 annual Brave Heart Awards.
According to West Side Today, the Brave Heart Awards honors those who are “inspiring trailblazers who have transcended above the preconceived ideas of empowered individuals.” The awards were launched in 2009 by author and motivational speaker Ellie Drake.
Hedren runs the Shambala Preserve, a sanctuary for lions, tigers and other big cats in California that is also home to two tigers formerly owned by Michael Jackson. The sanctuary provides both a home for the cats and serves as an educational opportunity to the public.
Other recipients of the award this year included New York Times best-selling author and international lecturer, Marianne Williamson, and “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd. The recipients will be honored at a gala on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
