Martha Stewart “Dog Fancy” 40th Anniversary Issue About Adoption
Written by Vegetarian Star on August 5th, 2010 in Animal Issues.
Martha Stewart is making history on the October 2010 issue of Dog Fancy, being the first non-canine cover star on the magazine in its 40 years of publication.
Inside, there’s an interview with Stewart on her own dogs, her pet products and dog adoption, which the domestic diva is a big fan of. It’s the perfect way to debut, Adopted Dog, Dog Fancy’s first “flip” double issue of a publication dedicated to adoption and rescue.
“Rescue is very important,” Stewart says. “I believe that there’s a loving home for many of the animals in shelters and that it’s important to inform people about how to find animals in need of rescue.”
Stewart has opened her farm to not only rescued dogs and cats, but two black Welsh sheep, three Pomeranian geese and three donkeys.
Shown on the cover are Stewart’s dogs, a Chow Chow puppy named Ghenghis Khan and French Bulldogs Francesca and Sharkey.
The issue revisits milestones for dogs and consults with dog experts about what the future holds for dogs. Hopefully, that future for the millions of homeless dogs is brighter, as pet lovers realize a shelter animal is the only way to go, especially compared to one purchased from a pet store or breeder.
