Quantcast Vegetarian Star“Alice + Olivia” Stacey Bendet Going To Hell For Fur Wearing Vegans

Stacey Bendet

Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet won’t put anything except a plant in her mouth, but when it comes to designing her fashions, her ethics are a little less loose.

She’s aware of this contradiction and knows very well there’s a special place in hell for vegans who wear fur, where she’ll meet foxes, rabbits and chinchillas who will skin her alive, replacing her hide with bad, retro fashion from the 70s.

“I’m vegan, actually,” Bendet said, according to New York magazine. “I don’t eat [animals], I don’t put meat in my body. So every once in a while I think it’s okay to wear it. But I made it — I’m probably going to hell.”

This comment was made at a launch for M.A.C.’s Alice+Olivia collection at Beauty Bar in NYC while she wore a Mongolian Lamb vest she crafted herself.

“I don’t feel that guilty wearing it. I don’t know why. It doesn’t make sense. But something about putting it inside me feels really barbaric. Something about wearing it just feels a little glamorous.”

Call me the vegan police, but I think it’s pretty clear that she isn’t a vegan, no matter what she calls herself — no more than chicken McNugget eating “vegetarians” are actually vegetarians just because they think seeing bones in meat is gross.
