It’s always great to learn about the dozens of successful vegetarian athletes, and veggie newcomer Hannah Teter has just made the meatless world proud.
Teter took the Silver Medal in the Women’s snowboard half pipe competition at the Vancouver Olympic games.
She’s been a vegetarian for about a year and says she couldn’t feel better.
“I feel stronger than I’ve ever been, mentally, physically, and emotionally,” Teter told Huffington Post. “My plant-based diet has opened up more doors to being an athlete. It’s a whole other level that I’m elevating to. I stopped eating animals about a year ago, and it’s a new life. I feel like a new person, a new athlete.”
Through her charity, Hannah’s Gold, Teter was able to extend the privilege of having access to quality food by making it easier for people in Kenya to grow their own food.
“One of the first projects we did was to provide Kirindon with basic farming tools and organic seeds. They have all the land and decent soil, but they just don’t have the tools.”
