Alison Lohman’s Kitten Sacrifice Drove Her To Tequila

Alison Lohman’s new movie, Drag Me To Hell, has her character sacrificing a kitten in a futile attempt to save her soul.
Alison’s character, Christine, is upset during the movie after she learns this could possibly save her soul because she’s a vegetarian and animal lover.
Lohman’s also both veg and owns cats and said that scene, along with a few other situations that occurred during filming, upset her so much it drove her to drinking.
“There’s a scene where the key to ridding myself of this curse may be sacrificing my cat. I guess I don’t have to tell you that no cat was really harmed during filming. But I have three cats at home, and I told Sam, ‘Look, I can’t do this scene because I’m a cat lover. We’re going to have to cut it out.’ And he said, ‘OK.’ Then we were filming and he went, ‘We’ll just try it.’ I can’t believe I went along.”
“It was sometimes unbearable, especially since I’m in almost every scene in the film. I had to have tequila shots every night just to get to sleep. I’m not kidding.”

Alison Lohman is a fine actress, but far from being a superstar. Director Sam Raimi, on the other hand, IS a superstar in his field. That’s why I found it peculiar that she “told” Raimi that he was going to “have” to cut the scene with the cat because she was a cat lover and didn’t want to do it. And when he insisted, she “can’t believe she went along.” Sounds like Lohman has quite the ego. They also sacrifice a ram, too, but Lohman didn’t seem to have a problem with that. I guess she’s only bothered when something cute is being sacrificed.
