hellogoodbye’s Forrest Kline Answers Our Burning Vegan Question
Written by Vegetarian Star on August 6th, 2008 in Male Musicians, Male Singers.
Forrest Kline of the band hellogoodbye, spoke with the Editor of The Los Angeles Loyolan, newspaper for Loyola Marymount University, where he answered “11 burning questions,” including why on earth anyone would name their kid Forrest:
“My grandpa’s name is Forrest Scott Kline,” he said. “My dad’s name is Scott Forrest Kline. My name is Forrest Scott Kline. They just flip-flopped I guess.”
Now, that we’ve gotten that question out of the way, it’s time to move on to what we feel is a more “hot” question: Why did he become vegan?
“I’ve been vegan for two, maybe three years and I was vegetarian a year before that. I decided to go vegetarian because of moral, animal cruelty kind of reasons. I didn’t want to eat animals. I made a slow transition. I stopped eating red meat. I slowly added more things.”
Although he didn’t say he was straight edge, he does talk of living a pretty clean lifestyle. Although he said his sister, was a “bad influence” when he was in junior high when he did drink alcohol and smoke, he prefers to get his thrills off non-drug sources, like music, now.
“I don’t like the idea of kind of being out of your own head [and] not really knowing what’s going on, that kind of thing, and not being in control. I’m kind of a hands on control [freak]. [I] can’t let go.”
