Kellie Pickler Was A Vegetarian Outlaw In South Carolina
Written by Vegetarian Star on April 2nd, 2014 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.
Kellie Pickler could create a bumper sticker that’s a play on one controversial American topic.
“If vegetarianism were outlawed in the South, then only outlaws would tell anybody they ate tofu.”
The country music singer was interviewing with the Las Vegas Review Journal when the subject of her diet came up.
When the journalist asked if it was against the law in the state of Tennessee to be a vegetarian, here’s what Pickler had to say:
“I’m not from Tennessee. I’m from North Carolina. It is a crime from where I am from, but I didn’t tell anybody. That’s why they kicked me out. Where I’m from, to be a vegetarian, you’re an alien. Everybody thinks you’re nuts. They think something’s wrong with you.”
Okay, so it’s only a crime if you get caught with your tofu.
Or, maybe that’s one of those old laws on the books that no one cares to enforce like prohibiting sweeping the porch on a certain day with a broom that’s a certain color.
Actually, it is a crime not to check out some happening spots in North Carolina and other places in the South that serve delicious vegetarian and vegan food, so visit helpful sites like Happycow.net for a list of restaurants in the state you’re planning to visit.
