The Doctors have a great prescription to avoid packing on those holiday pounds.
The hosts of the popular medical talk show have a few suggestions to snack on instead of sugary cookies and other high-calorie items.
Travis Stork and the others recommend filling party bowls with low-fat items like nuts and whole grain crackers, munching on fruit on kabobs and swapping candy for strawberries dipped in chocolate.
Keep the nuts unsalted and/or make your own with spices like cayenne pepper. They’re full of good for you nutrients like Vitamin E, Magnesium and fiber.
Christmas is a great time for teaching healthy eating to the little ones.
Instead of leaving cookies for Santa, encourage them to leave him a smoothie.
If Santa absolutely can’t resist cookies, serve him gingerbread ones, which are lower in fat than others.
