Stella McCartney Debuts Eco-Friendly Fashion At London Fashion Week

Stella McCartney is showcasing her Spring/Summer 2014 collection at this year’s London Fashion Week, and like many of her collections, the fabrics from her upcoming clothing additions were designed with the environment in mind.
Adidas by Stella McCartney includes fashion made from organic fibers, recycled material and colored with eco-friendly dye techniques.
“This season I was really inspired by urban landscapes, and the colour tones and dimensions of a skyline,” Stella said. “There is a play on contrasts: the Run and Cycling ranges are graphic, while the Studio range has a hint of retro cool. I’m also really proud to offer a collection that incorporates sustainable elements wherever possible: this season not only do we use organic cotton, recycled yarn and the dry dye technology, but we also have made a real effort to reduce on surplus waste.”
Low Waste Tees, Low Waste Shorts and a Short Sleeve Sweatshirt are three items in the Adidas sustainability line. Advanced cutting techniques ensures no waste is created. Ninety-five percent of the fabric goes into the final product while the remaining 5% is re-purposed or used elsewhere.
DryDye technology uses a pressurized form of carbon dioxide to dye materials, saving water that would be used in the traditional process. Stella incorporated this technique in her 2012 collections as well.
