McDonald’s Canada Unveils Two Vegetarian Wraps

McDonald’s is making a step in offering its vegetarian customers another option.
But they must live in or travel to Canada to experience it.
The fast food giant announced that it’s unveiled two plant-based wraps in its restaurants in the country, both of which will sell for under $5.
The Santa Fe wrap will be filled with “beans, corn, tomatoes, tortilla chips, cheese, lettuce, onions and a special southwest sauce.”
Customers who opt for the Mediterranean wrap can get the experience with “lettuce, feta, hummus, cucumbers, tomato, crispy onion, red onion and a creamy Mediterranean sauce.”
Both wraps come on whole wheat tortillas.
John Betts, CEO of McDonald’s Canada, told the National Post the decision was partially motivated out of repeated customer requests for a veggie burger on the menu.
“Wraps play much more to the ethnic and diverse nature of Canada,” said Betts, who feels wraps taste better than veggie burgers and are especially popular with the Millennial Group.
The wraps will likely be enjoyed by people who order the Quarter Pounder occasionally as well. According to the article, at least 71% of Canadians eat vegetarian “at least sometimes.”
