Quantcast Vegetarian Star“Vogue” Features Director Has Chickpea Breakdown In Vegan Experiment

Most fashionistas know that eating a plant-based diet never goes out of style.

But just like wardrobe malfunctions happen on the runway, when Vogue features director Eve MacSweeney tried cooking vegan for herself and her husband who has experienced some heart problems, a few issues occurred that hindered her ability to make the show go on.

“It was all down to me, it seemed, and pretty soon I was having a chickpea-induced nervous breakdown,” MacSweeney wrote.

She was a little surprised by the Whole Foods bill she filed away after a day of grocery shopping.

And it didn’t help that her husband who needs to learn a thing or two about eating healthy didn’t appreciate her efforts, complaining that one meal she concocted made him feel “hungry and sad.”

Not everyone can be a stick thin supermodel that wears a loincloth sized dress and still look good in it. Likewise, cooking and eating vegan doesn’t have to involve esoteric-sounding ingredients, pricey organic and natural foods stores or even husbands who don’t appreciate your efforts.

Grab a frozen veggie entree if you don’t like to slave over a stove. Buy the soy milk already in the carton instead of getting your fingers wrinkly in that “I just spent 8 hours in the pool” look while trying to strain the beans from the water yourself.

And if the hubby still complain he misses the life of fried and processed fast food, never fret. Even places like Taco Bell can still be very vegan friendly.
