Jane Goodall Takes Dog Along To Tournament Of Roses Parade

Jane Goodall served as the grand marshall of the 124th Tournament of Roses Parade.
Riding in the carriage with her were representatives from her youth program, Roots and Shoots, which focuses on getting adolescents excited about conservation and other environmental issues.
Goodall had one other companion along with her for the ride–a good friend helping to bring awareness to the animal population that’s waiting to be adopted.
Goodall told the Pasadena Sun:
“I also had the dog for part of the time, and he was walking for the homeless dogs of America. Dogs have always been very, very important in my life. When I was a child, I grew up with a dog. And when I went to Cambridge University to get my Ph.D, the professors told me I couldn’t talk about chimpanzees having personalities, minds or emotions, because that was unique to us. I immediately knew they were wrong because of my dog.”
“My guinea pigs had different personalities. All animals do.”
