John Salley Wants Vegetarian Lunches In Schools

John Salley sat down with the LA Times for a brief Q & A on his vegan diet.
The retired basketball star and health advocate has a lot to say about veganism, including the fact he wants more schools to offer vegetarian and vegan entrees as part of the regular menu options.
“It was important working up on the Hill with the congressmen to convince them that these kids are the people who will be voting soon, and if all of them are sick and dying, there won’t be any votes,” Salley said.
“There’s no reason that America should be No. 1 in obesity; we have the greatest country in the world. It’s about taking care of your health — kids over the age of 5 do a lot of things from habit, and you can teach them about eating healthy and how important their food is.”
With the election over and some new representatives in the seats of our country, now’s the best time to let your local, state and national politicians know how you feel about plant-based options in school.
