Meagan Duhamel Owes Skating Success To Vegan Diet

Couples figure skater Meagan Duhamel is part of the team that recently picked up four medals at Skate Canada over the weekend.
She and her partner, Eric Radford, brought home a Silver Medal.
Duhame, who’s been a vegan since 2008, credits her plant-based diet for the success she’s achieved in figure skating, including making her a lighter partner to toss in the air.
“I’ve seen a lot of benefits over the years,” Duhamel said. “It’s been almost four years that I’ve been a vegan. I lost a lot of weight at the beginning when I became a vegan and it’s been easily maintained.”
“I never have to try and count my calories or think about what I’m eating, because I’m always eating healthy foods. I sleep better; I have a lot more energy. I have a lot less injuries, my skin is better. I haven’t noticed any negative effects from it.”
Duhamel, who is also training for the 2014 Olympics, fuels up for competition on snacks like ‘homemade bread, pumpkin-apple butter, granola, cookies, trail mixes.”
