Megan Park Wants “Secret Life” Of Elephants And Bullhooks Banned
Written by Vegetarian Star on September 24th, 2012 in Actresses, Animal Issues.
Megan Park would like everyone to know the “Secret Life” of elephants at many circuses and zoos.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager actress supports The Elephant Protection Act and is asking Canadian officials to do the same.
Bill 69 would ban bullhooks and similar devices used on elephants with such entertainment and educational organizations.
In a letter delivered to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Park asked members of the Provincial Parliament to support the ban.
Bullhooks and similar devices are used to control elephants and push them into performing tricks. The bullhook–a sharp rod with a metal tip that resembles a fireplace poker–is used on the elephant’s body to condition it, causing pain and suffering to the animal.
Park has supported other animal rights campaigns, including one that seeks to phase out the Canadian seal hunt.
