Lynyrd Skynyrd band members discussed their favorite BBQ spots during an interview with FUSE.

Guitarist Rickey Medlocke said, “You gotta understand something: There’s different BBQ for different sections of the South. Texas has their own kind, Memphis has their own kind, Florida has their own kind, and the Carolinas, too.”

So which part of the South has the best vegetarian BBQ? Johnny van Zant‘s daughter would probably know.

“My daughter is a vegetarian and I have the hardest time. I’m like, ‘Let’s go out to dinner’ and she’s like, ‘Well, I don’t eat that. I don’t want to go there.’ It’s a hard time when you’re a vegetarian, man, to go out and eat,” van Zant said.

Medlocke suggested the best way to have a good BBQ is to “not invite vegetarians,” and to “tell them to stay home” as the guys made jokes about BBQ salad and BBQ veggie burgers.

Or just have the vegetarian bring her/his faux BBQ skewers.
