Merriam-Webster Adds “Flexitarian” To Collegiate Dictionary

Merriam-Webster has updated its Collegiate Dictionary.
Although “F-bomb” and “Sexting” sound like fun words to put in your A+ college paper, Vegetarian Star is more thrilled that “Flexitarian” made the cut.
“As our society has become more aware of our eating patterns, we’ve seen a proliferation of its use,” said Kory Stamper, an associate editor for Merriam-Webster.
According to the Washington Post, “flexitarian” can be traced back to 1998, and is defined as “one whose normally meatless diet occasionally includes meat or fish.”
Now that the word has made it into the dictionary, it’s time to create those Thesaurus entries. Flexitarian, weekday vegetarian, vegan until 6-atarian…
