Sydney Leroux Kicks Meat And A Soccer Ball For US Women’s Team

Sydney Leroux gave up eating meat three years ago because of her love for animals, like her Chihuahua, Boss, who happens to have his own Twitter page.
Though she has some setbacks eating vegetarian on the road as a professional athlete, those obstacles haven’t hindered her performance, as she scored the goal that sent the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team into the semifinals at this year’s London Olympic games.
“It’s not easy, because sometimes we’re at places where the food isn’t great in the first place,” said Leroux.
“It’s good when we’re in the U.S. because I have a separate meal set up for me. Here it’s a little more difficult. I’ve learned to figure out things and make little meals for myself.”
The Sports Illustrated article on Leroux hints that she may be trying to go vegan, as she consumes a “regular diet of beans, protein shakes and (reluctantly) eggs.”
