Look past the burger on the cover. Look past the bacon also. Think of your favorite faux meat substitute for these items. Now, open up the book and head for the vegetarian section. Breathe.
The Food Network editors have compiled a cookbook, Food Network Magazine 1,000 Easy Recipes: Super Fun Food for Every Day, that looks awfully carnivorous on the outside, but surprisingly plant-friendly on the inside, especially if you consider how easy it is to swap some ingredients here and there.
From Appetizers of Chips and Party Mixes to homemade hummus created from whipped black beans, Food Network Magazine 1,000 Easy Recipes has a considerable number of vegetarian ideas and this may be a good cookbook in a household of mixed eaters.
In addition to the recipe collection, there are several Suggested Menus, such as the Easy Barbecue, Asian Cookout, and yes, Vegetarian Night.
Veggie Burgers, black bean hummus and tomato bell pepper salad are just a few of the dishes from Vegetarian Night that just may decrease the number of carnivore nights you have in your home. But many of the items from the non official “Vegetarian” menu, like barbecue corn on the cob, Hot Vegetable Chips, Teriyaki Snack Mix and Heirloom Tomato Salad, will also make everyone in the home happy.
The Food Network Magazine cookbook contains:
- 294 appetizers and snacks
- 156 breakfasts
- 287 main dishes
- 192 salads and sides
- 232 drinks and desserts
And amazingly, not every vegetarian recipe is a salad.
