Demi Moore Gets Wish–No Bullhooks On Elephants In Atlanta

Demi Moore wrote a letter to officials on the Fulton County Board of Commissioners yesterday asking them to vote to ban elephant handlers from using bullhooks on elephants in traveling circuses in Atlanta, Georgia.
Anyone who doesn’t give in to Demi obviously has something wrong with them, so thank goodness the commissioners saw the light and elephants in Atlanta can expect less pain and torture.
The ban on bullhooks, long stick objects with sharp devices at the end meant to inflict pain to “train” elephants, were already banned in zoos and sanctuaries in the city.
PETA has issued a statement on the decision that gives animal lovers a reason to celebrate.
Senior Vice President Lisa Lange told WENN, “Thanks to Demi and others who spoke out against the use of cruel bullhooks, the days when circuses could get away with beating elephants until the animals cried out in pain are over in Fulton County.”
“The commissioners’ compassionate action should serve as an example to counties and towns across America that abusing elephants in the name of entertainment will not be tolerated.”
