Gangsta’s Paradise went gourmet when Coolio released a cookbook in 2009 titled, “Cookin’ With Coolio: 5 Star Meals At A 1 Star Price.”
Coolio’s book happens to have an entire chapter devoted to vegetarians as well as one titled “Salad Eatin-Bitches” for those that aren’t interested in “Pimpin’ the Poultry.”
If you’re still trying to contain your laughter, you should also know this book received an average of 4.5/5 stars by reviewers on Amazon who also had pleasant things to say about how well the book actually teaches cooking skills, something also illustrated in Coolio’s web-based cooking show, “Cooking With Coolio.”
In between slang, innuendo and sexy women pulling seasoning packets from their bosoms, Coolio gives great tips for making sure the wok is heated evenly before sauteing the veggies and natural ways to remove grit and grime from fresh produce to ensure you can cook the very best possible appetizer for that ass.
Above is Coolio demonstrating three vegetarian dishes: Vegetable Stir Fry, Spinach Your Kids Will Eat and Caprese Salad.
Instruction Tip: Dime-bags are tablespoons in Coolio’s kitchen. Don’t forget to recruit 1 or more “hungry childrens” to taste the spinach.
Recipes can be found under the “More Info” tab on the video’s page.
Finally, an excerpt from Coolio’s Kitchen:
Every artist needs a studio, a clean place to hone his love for his craft. I don’t care if it’s the kitchen at the Playboy mansion or a damn studio apartment, all you need is a hot plate and this indispensable book.
Your workspace doesn’t have to be big and it doesn’t have to be beautiful, but it better be clean and it better be organized. A true kitchen pimp has enough to do without spending twenty damn minutes looking for that spaghetti sauce you bought last winter. I keep my pantry immaculate. Dressed nice, in a shirt, tie, and jack-u-let.
My green beans are near my pinto beans and my asparagus stalks are near my collard greens. My vinegar is by my sesame oil, and my plastic wrap is near my tinfoil. My kitchen is clean, my counters are always glossy. Now come on, girls, it’s time to get saucy!
