Kimora Lee Simmons–Baby Phat Added Fur After I Left

Kimora Lee Simmons was the object of ire when animal rights group Action for Planet questioned why her ex-clothing line, Baby Phat, was selling fur. However, after a series of Tweets, Simmons revealed that she is no longer with Baby Phat and when she was, it was a completely fur-free company.
“I am no longer w tht company! During my tenure, we were fur free! its beyond me now.?—> RT @actionforplanet: @OfficialKimora u claim 2 b an animal lover yet u use rabbit fur n ur fashion line babyphat. Hw do u explain this hypocrisy?”
For what it’s worth, some items on Baby Phat’s website are listed as faux fur.
If you hate an industry that hurts animals in the name of fashion, what are some steps you can take to make a difference? The Humane Society of the United Steps has listed a few ideas, starting with reviewing the comprehensive list of fur-free retailers.
You may also write to Congress, encouraging them to pass the The Truth in Fur Labeling Act (H.R. 2480/S. 1076), which requires all garments with fur to be labeled as such. Currently, garments with small pieces of fur, like fur-trim, that is worth $150 or less, are not required to be labeled as containing fur.
Obviously not wearing fur is the best way to take a stand, and you can also purchase buttons and bags which conspicuously state your stance on fur in fashion.
Donating old furs to wildlife rehab centers can help workers care for injured animals by providing them with a warm, reassuring texture that may feel like a mother to an abandoned or otherwise orphaned creature.
