Lisa Edelstein “House” Away From Home Isn’t Vegetarian Friendly
Written by Vegetarian Star on October 25th, 2010 in Actresses, Film & TV, Food & Drink.
As a vegetarian for 28 years, Lisa Edelstein has been through times when it was difficult to get something meatless while away from home. But who would have thought that in 2010, it would be hard to find something vegetarian on the set of House?
As Edelstein explained to Popeater, the producers of the show don’t have a large budget for food, and she often ends up bringing her own food to the set because “food is sort of crappy.”
To make up for this (and perhaps drop a few hints), Edelstein will sometimes order healthy food for everyone on the set.
From Popeater:
Seriously, the show is an international hit and they can’t spring some money so that people who work 16 hours a day can eat decently?
I agree with you wholeheartedly. Also the crew would feel better and have more energy if they ate better. What I’ll do is order food from a healthy place and pay for it for the crew. We all do that, the actors, the writers. If I’m in an episode a lot and I’m around 14 hours a day I’ll usually spring for a meal for the crew. It’s not that unusual.
It’s great that Edelstein has the opportunity to treat everyone, but we’d have to agree with Popeater on this one? How is a hummus and veggie wrap, bean salad or otherwise vegetarian dish so much harder to afford on a “crappy” budget than a turkey club?
