Otarian Extends Low-Carbon, Vegetarian Fast Food To London

Otarian, a chain of casual, fast food vegetarian restaurants which offers a menu displaying the carbon count of each item, has opened in Soho.
Created by Radhika Oswal, wife of billionaire Pankaj Oswal, Otarian keeps green by doing more than serving the Indian Chutney Burger and Vegetable Lasagna. Otarian doesn’t transport ingredients by air and will exclude them from a dish if no reliable from of ground transportation is available.
An impressive 98% of waste from the restaurant is either composted or recycled, something that, according to a recent press release, is costing them twice as much than what it normally would in the industry.
The building itself is also constructed with sustainable design in mind. Floor tiles were crafted from recycled glass, table tops from recycled plastic, ceiling from recycled aluminum and the chairs made from bamboo.
For now, the only London Otarian is located at Wardour Street, Soho and Shaftesbury Avenue, Covent Garden. Another establishment is set to open on Regent Street later this year.
