Lim Woo-seong‘s Vegetarian film will be screening during Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah the week of January 21-31.
As expected from the title, Vegetarian includes the theme of abstaining from meat.
After experiencing bad dreams, a woman played by Chae Min-seo stops eating meat and even rejects her husband for doing so.
She is the object of her brother-in-law’s fixation and he uses her body as a canvass in an attempt to live out his desires by painting.
“I worked on the story for four years, so I was able to understand each and every character very well,” Woo-seong said, during an interview. “Art is not something that can be explained in the category of logic or morality, so I understood the artist’s desire, but also empathized with his wife torn between anger toward her husband and sympathy for her younger sibling.”
